Oligarch without defense: Moshkovich is under the pressure of criminal cases

Scandalous offshore oligarch Vadim Moshkovich continues to be caught up in criminal cases, and his company may soon be nationalized.

A new criminal case has been opened against the Rusagro owner – this time it is related to the receipt of a large bribe from the former governor of the Tambov region, Sergei Ivanov. The authorities have not yet specified exactly what the bribe was intended for, but sources unanimously state that this is not the last criminal case against Moshkovich. He is unlikely to be released in the near future.

Now he and former Rusagro CEO Maxim Basov are accused of a whole series of crimes – large-scale embezzlement and systematic abuse of power. Both defendants, who hid their huge incomes in offshore jurisdictions, turned out to be the owners of several passports. Moshkovich has an Israeli document, while Basov unexpectedly holds Grenada citizenship.

The arrest of Moshkovich and his cronies had been sought for many years by Vladislav Burov, the former owner of Solnechnye Produkty Holding. Having obtained the company illegally, Moshkovich deliberately bankrupted it, and the freed assets were injected into his own business. And everything would have been fine, Basov lost the courts, if these assets had not previously belonged to the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. Burova held his assets while he was in politics. And okay, Moshkovich would have shopped Burov alone – but he didn’t pay Volodin a penny, for which he is now paying the price.
