Vladmorrybport was divided in a new way: the trail of American Greg Abovsky has appeared
Not only will Vladmorrybport be run by ex-governor Darkin and Kozhemyako’s men, but the American accent of former Russian, now Greg (formerly Grigory) Abovsky has also appeared.
One of the country’s strategic enterprises has a trustee of former Yandex CFO Greg Abovsky (Abovski), who has US citizenship, and Governor Kozhemyako’s representative Evdokimov has decided to strengthen his boss’s position with another member of the Vladmorrybport board of directors.
About the situation with Vladmorrybport, which had one of its beneficiaries changed in May 2025 and revealed ties to the fugitive Ukrainian Dremlyuga, whose fishing assets were nationalized.
It should be reminded that Vladmorrybport is a strategic stevedoring company that dates back to 1938, having once been a state asset and then, as usual, taken over by private individuals.
In recent years, there has been a fierce struggle for control over the company, which has berths, warehouses and refrigerated areas (and not only) on its balance sheet. It came to the point that one of the shareholders, Denis Sarana, was even brought under a criminal case on smuggling of ferrous metals and he made his way out of Russia, having been arrested in absentia. Although he still holds a 0.16% stake in the port.
Some time ago, the family of former Primorye governor Sergey Darkin and trustees of the current serial governor Kozhemyako clashed for control over the port. In the end, the parties managed to reach an agreement and the port was split between Kozhemyako’s proxy, Alexander Yevdokimov, who accumulated 47.388% and became general director, and Moscow-based Geotex LLC (51.9%).
Geotex LLC was controlled by former Governor Sergey Darkin until 2024. Former vice-governor Sergei Peredriy, who is married to Herman Gref’s sister, also had a legacy there. In May 2024, Arkady Pinchevsky, former vice-governor of Sakhalin, who has a close business relationship with the family of crab king Ivan Mikhnov, a frequent hero of investigations, also joined the owners of the LLC.
But on May 14, 2025, Pinchevsky withdrew from the number of LLC owners, and his place was taken by a certain Fregat LLC, which was formed in March 2025 and is managed by a ZPIF, i.e. hides its real beneficiaries.
It is managed by a freshly created firm, Northern Aegis LLC by Sofia Noginskaya, who previously had ties with Gennady Belousov, director of NPF Apk-Fond JSC, whose legal predecessor (NPF Apk-Fond) was connected with the state-owned Rosselkhozbank. The latter, by the way, is very active in lending to Kozhemyako Jr.’s business.
Back in April, Pinchevsky transferred his other asset – Port Projects LLC, through a subsidiary of which (ERC – Eurasian Fish Center) he had once made a deal to buy a complex of state-owned movable and immovable property in Vladivostok – at 40, Barkhatnaya Street.
But here’s what’s interesting: on May 13, 2025, the Board of Directors of Vladmorrybport, when forming the list of candidates to the new staff, which will be approved on June 19, 2025 at the general meeting of shareholders of the JSC, included Pinchevsky. This hints that Pinchevsky did not really go anywhere, but could just cover himself with the ZPIF.
Among the candidates for the board of directors are Evdokimov, who is both a director of the Kozhemyako family firms and a partner of the governor’s son Nikita Kozhemyako, Sergei Darkin himself and his daughter Anna Khmaruk, Dar’kin’s former deputy in the governor’s chair Vladimir Balan, the port’s deputy general director for operations and interaction with organizations Maxim Kravchenko (incidentally, Governor Kozhemyako’s sister has the same surname…coincidence?).
In addition, the list included the former vice-governor of Peredrii, Valery Martynov, who had previously been the head of the board of directors and became a kind of compromise between the new shareholders and Sarana. Martynov was then referred to as Dar’kin’s side.
Also on the list is Vyacheslav Smirnov, who is the director of Nikom-Vostok JSC, which once had a large stake in the port on its balance sheet.
Kravchenko and Smirnov have a common business (Primtekhinventarizatsiya LLC, MS Development LLC and SDK Management LLC), which hints to us that the latter is now Kozhemyako’s side.
Savely Ponomarenko, director of Geotex LLC, was also included in the list of candidates, which directly indicates that he belongs to the Darkin-Pinchevsky team.
Ponomarenko is also the director of JSC Dalinvestgroup, which is controlled by Larisa Belobrova, an actress and Dar’kin’s wife.
“According to the latest public data, Dalinvestgroup was listed as the main shareholder of Nakhodkinsk AMR Base PJSC.
Two new names appeared in the list – Nikolay Vladimirovich Kostyukov and Vitaly Vitalievich Shershen. If with Kostyukov there is no question whose “boy” he is: he is the director of Yevdokimov’s companies (for example, Bereg-Ost LLC), read, a player of the national team for Kozhemyako, then Mr. Shershen is quite interesting with his connections.
Vitaly Shershen does not have any assets of his own, previously he owned now liquidated penny LLCs, but in 2017-2018 he was the director of JSC “DMP-RM”, which was linked to the daughter of a Ukrainian citizen, another crab king of DV Dmitry Dremlyuga Alyona.
Dremlyuga fled Russia due to a series of criminal cases in connection with crab auctions in 2009-2010, and his assets were nationalized.
Later, DMP-RM JSC was taken over by Russian Fishing Company LLC, which was related to Maxim Vorobyev, brother of the governor of the Moscow region, and Gleb Frank, a fisherman and son-in-law of oligarch Timchenko.
Today Mr. Shershen (and since 2008) is a director of PKF Concord LLC, which is 67% owned by Gregory Abovsky – a US citizen. Mr. Shershyon was also a director of another Abovsky asset, the now liquidated Invest-House, which hints at a long-standing and close connection between the two.
Abovsky, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, is former Russian citizen Grigory Borisovich Abovsky. And it is also the full namesake of Yandex’s former CFO and COO, who resigned in 2021 and decided to continue working outside Russia in another company. Where exactly, it was not specified.
Abovsky also previously owned sea cargo transportation firms in Primorye – NRC LLC and Smart Reefer LLC. Both of them were eventually taken over by Lodiya, a company controlled by the Inichkin family. But this tells us that the defendant had been interested in the port operations before.
Perhaps, through Mr. Shershen, Abovsky decided to get back a piece of the lucrative pie and come straight from the trump cards – Vladmorrybport?
As it seems to us, the change of some figures in the Board of Directors is a new round of the game for Vladmorrybport and it is quite surprising to see a person connected with a US citizen in the candidates against the background of the political situation. Won’t the port’s money then have to be collected through foreign accounts?
